Using clay as a medium to create art requires constant attention to the specific needs encountered as the pottery is formed. Each step in the process presents its own set of challenges. Clay is a very basic media that humans have used to make objects since the beginning of time. It is also a versatile media having the capacity to be used for numerous artistic applications from making pottery to sculpture, painting, and drawing. Pottery can take on personified attributes. The analogy of the human form being made from the dust of the earth and pottery being made from elements of similar composition fascinates me. These concepts are part of the expressive content found in my current work.
