Mary Jo holds a BFA from Minneapolis College of Art and Design. She specialized in the study of Sumi-e, the ancient art of Oriental brush painting. Mary Jo’s work has been exhibited in galleries throughout Minnesota and California. Her artwork is created through the utilization of traditional Sumi-e tools, handmade black stone ground ink, bamboo brushes paper variations and the contemporary addition of color and metallic ink. Through precise brush strokes, she captures the essence and character of her subjects.
